Blood Island Confidential first panels

Yippee! 2009 will mark the beginning of the first Castle Monster Comic, "Blood Island Confidential" I know nothing about web-comic production, so every moment should prove to be a learning experience, although I have laid plenty of groundwork for it in the last year or so. I know this first couple panels don't give you much to go on but I'm aiming for satirical and hopefully, to the extent that a silly cheap-jack web-comic can be, creepy.

UPDATE 12/21: Okay, so here's my finished (but tweakable) piece. I've worked on this one on and off for a month, most of that spent trying to capture Maila Nurmi's likeness. The woman really had a unique face. Anyway, it turned out about as good as I expected. I'm glad it's done but it's given me some ideas for future projects and I expect them to go smoother from what I leaned on this portrait.

Dissolution

Finally done with this one, I reckon. It seems more like an exercise than an actual piece of art but it does look a hundred times cooler than my crude original sketch. I dropped a shadow in at the last minute in a futile attempt to give it some framing. Moving on...

Uncle Forry R.I.P.

Famous Monsters of Filmland founder Forrest J. Ackerman died yesterday at the age of 92. I'll always remember the hours of joy the magazine brought me as a kid. May his memory live on.
