Elizabeth

Beverly Washburn as Elizabeth Merrye in Spider Baby.

UPDATE: I've gotten a nod from the great Director himself Jack Hill in the comments! I can probably die happy now.

What a lovely piece of art. I'm saving it to my archives.

I'm still working on it. I'm thinking of colorizing it. You might imagine how impossible it is for me to express how blown away I am to hear from one of my cinema heroes. I'm just...Wow...

I've been thinking of doing a series of Spider Baby portraits.

Go for it! Keep in touch. Can we market your work on our new website that's in development?

That sounds good to me. Right now my work is digital but I work big enough to make a pretty good print from and I could always switch to oil if I wanted to show my portraits in an exhibit. I have a lot of things I can do so I've only started developing my skills at portraiture. Right now, that's looking like the most feasible way to go with my art until I can find an open spot in production design or something.

Here is my general gallery that has a broad sampling of my explorations in design:

For Spider Baby I was considering doing one portrait of Jill and then a composition with a few characters. Now that I have a thumbs up from the Director himself, I might just do a portrait of each character plus a couple compositions. Of course, that will take a month or more, probably. I started on this one just the other day.

I really want to thank you for the encouragement. This has given me quite a shot in the arm.

When I was going through the movie looking for suitable portrait shots, this moment really stood out to me. There are other shots that would be more characteristic of Elizabeth but this one looked like it might be striking and still look like a portrait. It's been trickier finding one of Jill because the obvious one that everyone thinks of right away is so perfect. That one would be hard to do justice.
